21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

9

“No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.” Isaiah 54:17

“The weapon may be formed but it won’t prosper” are the opening lines of a worship song.  The weapons of the enemy are shaped and molded to destroy and discourage me.  The most powerful weapons are not swords or clubs, but “tongues that rise against you”.  The wounds of words seem to go deeper and last longer than any physical pain.  We were told “stick and stones may break my bones, but words won’t hurt me”.  That was a lie.  Words wound deeply and we carry those wounds with us.  Sometimes it takes years to realize how those words have hurt you or how they have subtly redirected your life.

In the midst of the pain and struggle of fighting this spiritual battle, I need to know that I have a heritage and vindication from the Lord.  The weapon formed by the enemy desires to take something from me, but the heritage of the Lord is secure and untouchable.  I must be reminded again and again that nothing in all creation can separate me from Him.  While I may hurt and struggle, I have not lost my Savior or my salvation.

The words of a vindictive tongue can wound me, but the Words of God heal and define me.  I am who He says I am.  I am forgiven because God says I am forgiven.  He is making me to be a new creature in Him.

The enemy will most surely come with weapons formed for a spiritual war.  But Jesus is greater.  He that is in me is greater than the enemy in the world.

Prayer: Father God, I know that no weapon raised against me will succeed because I am Your child.  I often feel as though life will overcome me.  I struggle to not cave in the weight and pain of the moment.

My feelings are real, but Your presence and promise is greater.  So, by faith, I claim Your promise that no weapon can overcome me.  In the end I will be Yours and You will be mine.  Any accusation that comes against me will not be the final word.  You are changing who I am and I am who You say I am.  Remind me of this truth numerous times today.  I can get overwhelmed so easily and forget what You have said so quickly.
