21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
2
“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!” Psalm 139:23-24
It does not take long for the physical desires to make themselves know in a time of fasting. The desire for foods, like meat, bread, and sugar began to make them selves known by the end of the day. Today I am praying for God to expose more of those physical desires, not less. I am opening myself up to Him, in order that He would examine my thoughts and motives and expose those things that are not of Him.
This type of prayer is scary and difficult, for I may be blinded to things God wishes to expose. It is easy to seek comfort and choose to live in a familiar pattern of life. It is difficult to confront what the Spirit exposes and adjust my life to Him. However, my spiritual life will only change when I am willing to allow the Holy Spirit to change me.
Prayer: Father God, I lay open my life before You and ask You to search my heart and mind. As You expose those things in me that are opposed to You, help me remove them from my life. I desire to be more like You. Anything that is not of You or serves to honor You, please point it out that I could be changed.
