Worshiping The King

“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?  For we saw His star when it rose and have come to worship Him.’” Matthew 2:1-2

It is Christmas Eve and across the nation people will gather in worship services to celebrate the birth of Jesus.  Like the magi they will come to worship Jesus.  But what does it mean to worship a king?  A king is a ruler over a kingdom.  A king wants to be followed and obeyed more than placated and flattered. Our worship is full of words but is it full of obedience and submission.  Worship is more than saying the right things, true worship is about how we live our lives.  To worship the king you must obey the king and submit yourself to His leadership in your life.

Pray: Pray for Christmas to be more than a season where you acknowledge the birth of the King of Kings.  Pray for Christmas to be about a commitment to obey and serve the King of Kings throughout the year.  Pray that your desire would move from building your own kingdom to serving Jesus and His kingdom.
