The Need To Meet

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.’” Hebrews 10:24-25

Corporate worship services and small group Bible studies provide an opportunity for the church to gather, to stir up love and good works, and to encourage one another.  Does your worship deposit courage into other believers and encourage them to live for the sake of the gospel this week?  One reason we meet to worship is to encourage one another.  Worship is focused on God,but it benefits other followers.  Who is your worship encouraging?

Pray: Pray for an opportunity to encourage others.  Pray for your spiritual eyes to be open to the needs of others and make time for a note, a call, or a time of encouragement.  Pray for opportunities to pray with and for one another.

“Look at the world and you will be distressed. Look within and you will be depressed. Look at Christ and you will be at rest.” Corrie Ten Boom

That’s right. God told me recently that while He enjoys being worshipped that the act of worship really is for us to build up our own faith. (Plus I bet it irritates the snot out of the enemy, especially when it is sincere and coupled with an obedient, fasted, abiding lifestyle. Hee! Hee!)
